Back on Your Feet is our dedicated 12-week OTAGO falls prevention programme. OTAGO is a functional strength and balance training programme which has been clinically proven to reduce the incidents of falls by up to 40%
The programme includes an initial assessment, in which activity goals are set (e.g. joining local walking groups, playing actively with grandchildren or having the confidence to go shopping independently).
Participants are then given an individually tailored and challenging programme of exercises and walking activities to be done at home or through participation in a series of 12 weekly classes in local community settings. Their progress is assessed and monitored throughout the programme.
At the end of the programme participants are reassessed and referred to suitable exercise opportunities that meet their needs, interests, health goals and capabilities.
Participants can be referred by a health professional or can self-refer.
